Have been cruising around this beautiful country from east to west for a few days now and was surprised to see Slovenia isn't listed under the Continental Touring at present.
We have been pleasantly surprised by the sights and landscape and we haven't reached the coast yet.
The camperstops that we have visited to date have been free and brand new with minimal costs for water, electricity etc. I gather that there are over 160 campervan stops in the country. The roads are in excellent condition (we avoid motorways), fuel is around €1.24 litre. Hope to spend a few more days here.

Seriously thinking about this and Croatia for next spring/summer, was intending to go this year, but got to Austria and the weather forecast for further south-east was dreadful, so headed west instead..

Have been to Slovenia and Croatia for the last 3 years. Both lovely countries, although apart from Istria, Croatia is all about the coastal area. Inland is a bit bleak apart from the the Plitvice and Krka National Parks, both amazing.

If they aren’t on your Slovenian itinerary, would suggest Lake Bled, the Vrsic Pass (but only if you are happy on mountain roads, it has about 50 hairpin bends!) and the Lipizzaner Stud.

Looks lovely, our daughter is getting married there next July, near a village called Dovje up in the mountains.
We are planning to spend a couple of weeks getting there and another couple getting back.

Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, been there, done it, loved it. Don’t be in a hurry, and visit Ston along with the usual places. Great water taxis all along the coastal villiages. No wild camping allowed in all but remote places.

We were there in May and it was great - did all your stops and were lucky to see the new foals at Lipica. One of the most interesting places was Postojna Caves - 24 km deep so you go in on a little tourist train! Then you can see the amazing OLM - a river salamander which can go 8 months without food and lives to over 100! However it was quite cold in May - locals said the coldest they could remember. We were glad to get to Italy where is was several degrees warmer! We found a nice place on our return - Caorle - a small seaside town between Trieste and Venice. There's a good campsite right next to the beach.

We didn’t do as much in Slovenia this year(April/May) as the weather was awful - very wet! Like you, we decided to head for
Italy and followed snowploughs along the Croatian motorway!

We loved Slovenia last year, recommend the River Soca Valley as worth a visit. Not far from Virsic Pass which has stunning scenery, but you need to enjoy tight hairpins and have good brakes for that (y)

It’s even more interesting when there is a cycle race on!

Things have changed a bit. We went in 2008 only a handful of camper stops then never found a free one.

We went to Slovenia and Croatia in 2012, still very much 'newbies'. Our first 'exotic'trip. Always meant to return, so maybe next Spring. Sounds like facilities have come on.

.. One final footnote on Slovenia, they have information boards everywhere you look and nearly always with an English translation.. that is really putting effort into the tourist market.
Now off to Venice.. ? Hope they make nice coffee

Language is certainly no problem in Slovenia, nearly everybody speaks good English but then so do most Europeans. On one Aire, an Austrian had called out a breakdown service. He and the mechanic conversed in English.

Hope that you have good tyres as the main thoroughfares can be very slippery ?
