Her indoors wants a pair of single sleeping bags for the van. She can only find the camping and outdoor types which are either envelope or without zip closures.
Has anyone purchased some that they could recommend.
Many thanks in anticipation.

We used to use a double duvet folded, sleep in the middle. Half under, half over. 2.5 tog for me, 300 tog for my carer :whistle2:

They do a “square” one too

edit: that looked like the same bag as 1st link. Fixed

They must have a zip round them too fit liners and NOT tapered or envelope types.

As everyone who has single beds in there van will know the beds are not really singles. Getting a sleeping bag that fits has always been a task.

A double duvet folded in half does a better job and you can remove covers to wash whilst you are away.IKEA are brilliant.BUSBY.

You won't need liners if you use double duvets.BUSBY.

We use Duvalay's as we can change the tog rating to suit the time of year and temperatures plus we can use them as singles or as a double, and it's easy to strip of the covers to wash them, one of our best buy's.

I use a single sleeping bag when camping alone, but I insisted that Go Outdoors find me one with a cotton lining. The nylon ones are awful, static electricity and too hot.

I have found that when in a sleeping bag with zip done up on a single bed if one of you rolls over the side onto the floor the other gets pulled over as well !!:blusher:

OH uses a Duvalay, I use a double duvet folded in half. The tog rating on both can be changed depending on the time of year. The duvalay mattresses can be a bit bulky to store so, as we have sofas that are used for single beds, they live on them permanently, covered by throws (we have a dog). Do find the Duvalay covers a bit of a pain to hang up to dry and to fold neatly. Also, the dog hairs cling more to the Duvalay cover.

In our panel van we have a transverse bed and use single duvets, when it hot just the cover, so if Janie wishes to stay covered she can, if she wishes to have one or two duvets in it she can, and if I choose to not use anything I can, and the other thing is they are easier to wash and dry, and no problem making the bed. ?
We are now back home, we have a super king bed 200 x 180 and although we make it up for guests with super king linen, we use single duvets. ?
Try it you might prefer it. ?? Bob.

Am I missing something here I thought sleeping bags were for tents. You get a nice mattress in a motorhome so what's wrong with a nice cotton sheet and a lovely fluffy duvet and cotton cover, ours are very cosy and we have summer and winter duvets

Yes, you are missing something, not everybody has a fixed permanent bed nicely made up ready to jump into of a night, some have to make up their sleeping area each night and therefore use bedding that's convenient for their needs.

Most caravan/Motorhome accessories shops have the sleeping bags you want-straight, no tapering and with dips. Use a liner in them as they are easier to wash!

We've been using two of these for the last three years, approx. 6'x3',can be used as a large double or two large singles, very comfortable and machine washable.

We used liners years ago-I made them from bed sheets-they worked well and it didn’t feel like wearing jim-jams & we didn’t get tangled up, it’s just the same as sheets on your regular bed!

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to my question. We've used sleeping bags with easyclean liners for nearly 40 years. Two years ago her indoors went up to sheets etc but that didn't last long. Over the years we've slowly done away with creating extra work while away so liners are simple and space saving.
