As a result of storm ellen and the help of an ham fisted fool and someone that cant understand "NO , clockwise" our sky light is now slightly uggered. The winder cable has a life of its own the skylight is floppy but wont open fully. I cant even see a makers name to go hunting for a manual or a you tube how to fix vid.
Any ideas?

The tape survived the 200 miles home
just spotted little sticker has Remis pmma vx/b
PS in in a Rapido

Fairly common roof light we have two on our Hymer but we have lights incorporated in the surround, try taking the inside surround down you can then get at the workings and maybe able to reconnect or repair it.😊

Just stripped down winder gearbox mechanism on the skylight and replaced shaft after it snapped. Not an expensive job just time consuming. Funny watching missus stood gawping at me with the winder in her hand...not. Some good material on You tube. If you need any assistance then please contact me

Looks like the Remis Vario 600 x 900mm size.

The Vario 1 has banana shaped raising struts, spare parts are now unavailable.
The Vario 2 is the latest version and has straight raising struts.

You should be able to download repair instructions for the Vario 2.

ive had success with Remis spare parts from these guys, albeit sometimes slow if out of stock of the part required, but that’s probably due to the manufacturer being slow with spare parts.

I will have to wait until the rain stops playing silly.

It looks the same as ours REMtop Vario II 900x60 but yours may be different !
When we bought our van the drive cable was hanging out just the same as in your photo.
The lifting mechanism is a weak design and I had to fit a new lifting mechanism.
The Remis part number is 10037874 and supplied by Leisure spares.

Giving the rubber seal a wipe with a small amount of silicon grease prevents the seal sticking to the clear cover, I always help the cover up with a hand to take the weight off the mechanism while winding the handle, no further trouble after 4 years.

You can download the fitting instructions from Remis, if you need any help drop me a pm.

Note these 2 are after problem sorted.
Remove 8 screws, from gearbox lid. remove circlip, remove lid, beware of parts exploding apart as lid removed.
Turn gearbox over

Drive cable replaced
Put gear box back in position correct way up, replace screws. The drive shaft must be relocated and circlip replaced.
Replace all clamps and screw into place.
Check movement of skylight by rotating shaft.
Replace internal cover note alignment of winder shaft and handle.
See example attachment knob

With a bit of luck this shows how simple a job it could be.
Thanks for all the help.

Glad it is sorted. Mine was the same but after cleaning all moving parts, I covered them in copper grease before replacing.

Interesting.!. I too find getting parts for/from Rapido shall we say?, NOT easy!!. Takes forever and the Main Dealer STILL has not replied to me over the Front windscreen Blinds after nearly 3 Months!.

during our hand over the best advice we got was always push the glass up as you wind and support it on the way down to remove pressure on the winding gears
i always think its ridiculous that a skylight that opens 4 inches needs a winder

I had cause to purchase a new Remis perspex top from LeisureSShop Direct.
It was a lot cheaper than buying direct from Autosleeper and it took about 4 weeks to be delivered from Germany to Bideford via Barnsley. The people at Leisure Shop were really helpful and kept me informed on progress. Recommended for future purchases l think.
