Has anyone found a way of prolonging the life of their skylights by protecting the plastic? As you all are probably aware exposure to sunlight and heat causes the plastic to become brittle over time which has resulted in there being quite a number of motorhomers (& caravanners) having experienced the plastic mechanism holding the skylight shut snapping off and the skylight 'dome' blowing away in the wind. Just wondered if anyone had discovered a solution to keep the plastic supple?

You can buy self-adhesive UV window film but I suspect it is for putting on the inside of a window. If you could find a weatherproof one and put on the outside that might help.

Alternatively, put something opaque over the skylight when the MH isn't being used. :)
