I have been given a sky digital box (see pictures). I have all the leads.
I have all the Sky Ariels and gubbings in the van.
My question is can I use this in the van. If so what else do I need?
Can I remove the card from my sky box indoors and put it in the Grundig?

Thought that as It was going in the bin I might be able to use it. Taking the home one was plan B

Yes I couldn’t see any USB or HDMI ports on it and starts are out dated now .😊

Throw it away and take your own...;)(y)

Depends if you have normal SKY+ or SKY+HD yes you can but if you have
SKY Q the card will not work in a normal SKY receiver

will a sky q box work if you take it from your house to mh

does it need wifi to come iucate with sky

Pretty sure sky cards are registered to a single box so you’ll have to register the card every time you switch boxes.

As above if you have skyQ at home the card won’t work in an old style box.

sorry didn't make it clear I was thinking of taking my sky q box and card from home to mh

would that work with my dish or does it need connection to phone line with the sky q system

You will need to register the card to the box, your dish will need a different LNB and yes it needs a wifi connection.

Your sat dish will need a wideband 10.41GHz LNB for a SKY Q box to work in your motorhome

No😊. Sky Q needs a different LNB to operate you can get them, if you have an Oyster dish Anthony OysterTech may be able to help?

Asked Roadpro if there was a wide angle LNB so I could take the Sky Q box in the van but the answer was no at that time. I bought, and brought, a wide angle LNB to the Faroes so I could use the box here on a 1.2m dish.

Some interesting replies.

No sky STB needs connecting to any phone line, not used phone lines for over 5 years.
Sky Q needs a wide band LNB to work and does not need internet that’s only for other services.
Cards are paired to each box for services, this is to stop cards being swopped from STB to STB.

The original post is a standard STB single feed so if the OP has a dish setup pointing to 28deg single feed then that’s fine for free sat, if the OP needs sky he needs a active subscription.

Reading replies I think he has Sky Q and asked the question can he take this STB with him, yes he can but.........

He needs a wideband LNB, twin feed or two single feeds (CT63 or CT100) no internet needed and away he goes but the drawback is if he has mini boxes at home they will not work.
