It's day one of the season and Bukovina resort (Rutherian ski) is open
They have artificial snow but quite a bit has fallen including an inch last night where we are at the camping in Zadopane (PodKrokwia - camper contact no 23771)
There is very little info about the roads on line.
Has anyone driven through snow on high level Polish roads? We have good winter tyres. No snow chains but I read they were illegal unless in heavy snow and a blizzard and driving less than 30 kph.
There is only light snow forecast (5-10cms) and low temps to minus 2 today and minus 6 with falling snow tomorrow when we plan to drive off the mountain range.
Driving up to try some skiing for a few hours against husband's better judgement. We are nervous because it's the first time.
This is the reason we bought a winterised Hymer (for my skiing)and we have loads of lpg to keep it warm.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Not sure if this uptodate however may be useful, good luck on your travels.

Poland:

You do not need to fit winter tyres according to Polish law. However, they are highly recommended by the Government, especially in rural areas. This is because there is very little in the way of snow clearing on the smaller country roads.
No winter tyre requirement
Countries with no winter tyre requirement:
United Kingdom,
France,

  • Poland,
  • The Netherlands,
  • Luxembourg,
  • Macedonia,
  • Hungary,
  • Bulgaria,
  • Romania.
Even though there is no legal requirement to use winter tyres in the aforementioned countries, common sense tells us that they are worth using.
Poland
Winter tyres; not a legal requirement however because there is minimal snow clearing on country roads driving without winter tyres is a major risk
Spiked tyres; forbidden
Extras; snow chains are mandatory as is a warning triangle, safety vests are advisable

Have a great time, we will be in the same region in June 2017.....don't think snow should be an issue then.
