We’ve not decided whether to use Chunnel or Dover ferry yet.
Nor have we decided which side to spend the night on ...
Whichever we do we’ll arrive late so need somewhere to park for the night near to the crossing which
- we can arrive at late and there’ll be room (no stress)
- is safe (again no stress)
I don’t want to be worried about people trying to hide in my bike rack or nicking the bikes ... ?

Any advice welcome ...

Aire at Canterbury Park&Ride, pay, water and waste; Parc d L’Aa, Gravelines, free no services but available a couple of miles away. All on Campercontact.

We've recently used the MH park at Cite de Europe on the Calais side of the Tunnel. Lots of others camping there, didn't see anything to be worried about, we arrived off the tunnel around 10.30pm, left around about 7am next morning and found it ideal for that kind of stop over. On the way back to the UK we also stopped there and went to do some shopping, late afternoon and again there were lots of other MH's parked up there.

Take your pick :) :) :)

Arrive at Dover late, use DFDS to Dunkirk, get off the boat , leave the port , and as you come out of the gates, on your left is the ticket building , and you will see loads of MH's there, its free , safe and saves messing around.. midnight crossing will see you off the boat at 3am , parked up by 3.05... sleep till 10am and leave... if you get on the 6 am boat , you will need to be there for 5am, wont land until 9am . and will have been up for 4 hours before you actually turn a wheel.

Never used DFDS but as we plan to go next week just checked it out..
:( Dearer than P&O and only a few quid cheaper than the tunnel by going at 2am..
So not for me..

I always prefer an evening crossing 8pm onwards. Arrive in Calais, straight to Cite Europe and bed down. Then next morning your up and off.. (y)

We will be getting the Tunnel just after midnight and staying at
Cite De Europe, been a while since we've stayed there but never worried regarding safety and the Police station is just over the fence.

Off Tunnel drive five minutes park up and sleep until we wake :) then head off somewhere, deciding where is the hard bit :)

P&O Doing an offer of £12 off a crossing for motorhomes..
Just booked for Sunday night (y) £130 return, that suits me..

PROMO CODE: SS12GB

You can park at the tunnel if early we overnighted there last year it's not to bad a bit of noise with trains but you have the shops and resteraunts and toilets etc.?

Thanks folks, some useful info there.

In April we used Chunnel stayed at a C&MH Club site called Blackhorse farm at Hawkinge out side Folkestone for the night before we boarded about 15 mins from the terminal , they have what they call ferry pitches, basically they’re separate from the other pitches and a bit smaller and near to the exit.
We used the Chunnel again this summer 8pm crossing and stayed at Chãteau de la Bien Assise at Guines 15min outside Calais, you don’t even use the motorway.
Gate was open rocked up plugged in went to bed checked in at 9am when the office opened next morning and left. Nice site with restaurant, there’s even a proper bath which I found in the morning much to the annoyance of the misses, she likes a nice bath!
You could be cheeky at this one, but I didn’t say that did I.
