Currently at Camping Buganvilla, just outside Marbella. Can anyone suggest a campsite for us that is:

Short walk to bars/restaurants. (Paul still recovering from total knee replacement and can only walk 1/2 mile or so, preferably on the flat.

Bar/restaurant on site, which is open and a bit busy, afternoons and evenings. Not necessarily entertainment, just a bit of atmosphere.

Largish pitches, as we are 9metres plus car and trailer.

No more than a days drive from here.

We have acsi, and two weeks available before we start heading back up towards France and home. We enjoyed Benidorm and Barcelona, but fancy seeing somewhere new.

This is a nice site. Not too jammed in, and just about walking distance to the beach, but the long termers here don't use the bar, and we have to drive to anywhere else. We are getting bored. :thumb:Lots of processional caterpillars at the moment though.

Bump. Looking like Portugal is the next stop at the moment, possibly Villa Real initially. It is raining here! Poor forecast for the next week too.

Its not always hot down there, can feel very cold late Feb/ Mar, quite often warmer in UK March. Dec/ Jan usually very good.
Try Calahonda, Camping Jarales, Accsi, right near shops, a good place to be. Mercadona next door, great fish counter, Lidl nearby, super cheap and great wines on offer all the time.Good restarants in Fuengirola, eat where the Spanish eat. Port area very good prices for food and drink Brit style.

Maybe too late now Karen, but Manta Rota is much nicer and close to many bars etc. and the beach.

We found Villa Real a bit rough in comparison.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We are planning to move on Sunday, as we get a cheaper rate for a fortnight, so are still checking your suggestions out on the t'internet.

Keith, we checked out manto rota in the car last year, and thought it looked great. Well tempted, but still with an open mind at the moment. We do like Portugal.

Went to Gibraltar today, stocked up on sausages and bacon, and cheap fuel:thumb: It poured with rain, and blew a hooley, and the mist came down in the afternoon. Just like home. Still raining, back at the site. Still, warm rain is better than the cold horizontal sort.
