Hi All
Could any of you please suggest the best site for travelling into London to watch next years Marathon as number one son has decided to give it a go. Thought it would be good reason to stay up there for a few days. Many thanks.

GGGGGRRRRRRRRRR

Another year running, another year without being able to get a place in the VLM

Anyhow that's another story. Best advice would be the CC site at Crystal Palace and early bus in. :thumb:

well over 5 years
Lee Valley ( or Lea Valley Campsite) just down the road from us

Debden campsite ( not too too far from us and well outside the LEZ)

side of our house (can be outside the LEZ if you are careful - you will be under cctv and we will treat you nice hehehehehe)

Tours of London and no extra cost (apart from the usual attraction entry fees)

Let us know if you fancy it. I know London like the back of my hand

Def Abbey Wood. Hubby ran in 2008. Staff on campsite really good and posted up direction to the Expo (what trains/busses etc that we needed to get anywhere over the weekend)

On the morning of the race they put up a huge 'good luck' banner with balloons and really entered into the spirit.

We caught the train directly to Grenich where I escorted him to the start, hung around for a bit then jumped back on the train to Charing Cross and parked myself on birdcage walk.

As a country girlie, I was really chuffed to navigate myself round!

Haganap, are you in a club? Our club gets a couple of entries into the marathon every year and what we do is any unsuccessful applicants get put in a hat and at our Xmas party we pull two names out. The bigger the club the more entries they get.

Yes Jill. And every year I fail in the club Ballot as well :Doh:

This year I had a 1 in 3 chance to run it, first person out gets a place second gets a reserve place that gives them a guaruntee for the following year.

I got neither :cry::cry:

and the year that I apply for the 5 year strike rule where by after 5 knock backs you get a place, they change the rules and that no longer applies. :Sad:

Only hope is a charity place for me but I am not going to commit to raising over £1000 pounds for a place.
Oh and then there's the girl at work, got a ballot place last year, never ran it deferred for this year, oh and she's not running this year neither, she can't be bothered. :thumb:

So looks like I will just stick to the Ultra's and trail marathons/fell runs.

Do I sound bitter? :Eeek::Eeek::Eeek:
