Having just returned from 4 months, mostly in the above countries, I thought it may be useful for people planning a trip to get an idea of current site/aire costs.
We generally stayed on Aires or free parking areas with occasional camp site stops for laundry. In all countries our split of ehu/ off grid was roughly 50/50.
Average costs in Euros-
France- (South through Central/West France to Bayonne, Perpignan to Provence to Switzerland, Alsace, Belgium border through Northern France to Calais)
Ehu €12.9
Non ehu €5.6
Spain-(Pamplona through central Spain to South Coast, following coast round to Southern France)
Ehu €11.7
Non ehu €0.4 (only one place charged-Almería port)
Germany- Bavaria, Black Forest
Ehu €15.6
Non ehu €9.2
Therefore in my experience, Southern Germany was a lot more expensive than Spain, though ehu in Germany tends to be on a pay per use basis so costs could vary depending what you used (we tended to average €2 per 24 hours).
Spain definitely had more opportunities for free parking areas, especially away from the coast.
I’m sure I’ll get lots of replies saying ‘well we only pay €5 with electric in Germany etc etc’ but this is based on the costs I recorded on my trip in the areas stated. Hopefully it’s useful as a rough guide.
