Changed our motorhome and now have single beds, my question is as we shall
be doing some winter touring are sleeping bags the best option or bed sheets
    with a quilt.

I would suggest a double duvet each and a double sheet - that way you can fold the duvets and sheets and be the 'filling' in the sandwich - its much more pleasant than a sleeping bag.

Personal preference. Don't feel you both have to use the same thing!
Him Indoors loves to be wrapped up tight in a "mummy"-style sleeping bag. Even the most roomy sleeping bag makes me feel very claustrophobic and even in a backpacking tent in winter I use an ultralight quilt.

Personally I wouldn't be without my sleeping bag. It totally eradicates the 2am argument with my wife that I have all of the duvet, when she has in fact nicked it all and chucked it on the floor next to her!
Oh! Single beds you say!!!! :D That could work! :D

For the little caravan we bought some really plush sleeping bags - toasty warm and lightweight. Plenty of room either zipped together as a double or as singles and the style allows it to be either zipped up tight and a mummy style top or as a basic - super comfort as far as we are concerned.

We use two single duvets but on reflection we should probably have bought 3/4 .... tuck half underneath to sleep on the rest to cover you. Snug as a bug in a rug;)

Just struck me that if you did away with the 300 tog and you climbed on top of Mrs Badknee with your lightweight sleeping bag Red Hot!! could be achieved.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

For me I prefer a sheet and quilt, makes it feel home from home and more comfier. You cant fidget your legs out in a sleeping bag.

Got both sheets \ duvets and sleeping bags but, generally, the dug ends up being the main covering!:sleep:

He has a single 12 tog single duvet, I have a king size 15tog so I can wrap it around me like a cocoon.
Strange cos in the daytime he feels the cold more than me.
