I was at Meroot Sq, Nee Soon garrison 1965-66. Came back from Borneo and then moved up to the RM Dieppe Barracks till Sep 68. Went out a boy/ came back a man. I went back with my new bride in Apr 1970-72. Loved every minute of it. happy days:thumb:
AAAHHH:BigGrin: The Brit Club:Laughing: & Tiger beer
Don't forget the main 'culture centre' Bugis (Boogie) Street.
Put my post on at 18'46 and went to clean the dishes and was greeted by "Hello Pongo" Transpires my Brit neighbour 3 down is ex RN Fleet Air Arm and knows Singers very well
You're getting carried away with these special effects.
Very arty and attractive but easy to over do it.
Showing your age, Sam.
I believe Bugis Street is now part of the financial district.
Dont know where the Kai Tais went to, maybe emigrated to Thailand to become Lady Boys?
I was stationed at labuan (Brunei) 1965,then Changi 68-69
I just enjoy messing about with pics to see what I can come up with
Ah..WAFU's...a strange breed, who like dressing up in odd clothing and walking around humming the theme tune for top gun....or some other similar goes 'ome bird things film
Got married at St Patricks Church RAF Changi 1965 best two year holiday ever :thumb::thumb::thumb:
Fraid the way this site works for me cant seen comments unless I post a reply ?
Was there in 1959, 1963 and 1968 (Royal Navy)
It may have been the Kai Tais that set up the financial district with their earning as they were a lot better looking than the 100% women.
Bungy. You should know that the proper name for a WAFU is 'Hairy Fairy' as quoted in the RN Bible (AP00001 &AFO's)
Bet there are Funsters on here scratching their head thinking just what the heck we are talking about!!
I'm ex Army, but WAFU is an RN term I havent heard since Adam was a lad.
Teeny Weeny Airways
Make and mend
Splash Target Coxswain
The Golden Rivet
and many any more
reading all this makes me throat drier than a nagasaki bomb dodgers starboard flip flop...
tis true, but once that stopped getting a bite it had to change...and for some reason WAFU always touched a nerve...possibly due to hairy fairy being an accurate description so couldn't be seen as being derogatory....Honest chief...it was in daily dits and the dockard dandy so must be a gen dit
I think you are an ex-matelot really, but please no more of the above, it's making me feel sea-sick in a nice sort of way.
Good one bungy, or should it be Mr Williams?
