Having been stuck at home like many members through Lockdown, (and in my case looking after my Lovely Mum who passed away in August aged 104). we're now hoping for a quick trip to France next month. The Motorhome isn't ready for a trip yet so we'll be car and hotel. What do we need paperwork- wise apart from our passports? Simple answers please, Probate and Inheritance Tax have used my few remaining brain cells up......

If you google travel to France it comes up with some straightforward information in simple language. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, Podney. I'm going to get everything sorted on Monday. Might be more inclined to tackle another UK GOV website after giving the brain a rest. I'll be sooooo glad when we can get back to normal...... if ever.

This is a good place to start:

You can set up an alert on your phone for every time something in the document changes, to make sure you are up to date.

We have valid passports, GHICs, Proof of Double vacc plus boosters. What's this Locator form I'm reading about ? And why can't we use one of our own stash of LFT instead of paying for two more of the identical thing ? Is there anything else we need apart from ferry tickets and hotel booking ? I know I'm being thick but after two very stressful years all we want is to get away to where we can forget about everything back home and revisit places with loads of happy memories. Thank you to all who've replied so far, confirming most of what I thought I knew. Just remembered - UK sticker....

You have to fill this in and submit in the 48 hrs before you arrive in UK. You can create an account and fill in a lot of your personal information before you leave UK and save it. Then just open it and add the additional information before final submission.

Do you know about the new regulations regarding winter tyres or chain/socks in certain regions of France?

IRHP - I've seen posts about the winter tyres etc but as we're taking my car this time I'm assuming it doesn't apply. We're only going to Dieppe for a few days so hopefully won't have a problem.
Revolver - that's a very clear explanation from UK GOV for once! I'll get on to that tomorrow.
In the meantime, my thanks to all of you. I'm not usually such a feeble female but the last two years have absolutely worn me out. I know we've all been through Lockdown but my dear Mum was a very active 102 year old when it started, bike riding, T'ai Chi every week, bright as a button and stubbornly independant, living alone in her house. By the time the first Lockdown was over she had faded so much that she actually started accepting my help. By the beginning of this year I had moved in with her and was helping with everything while I watched her fading . Finally she slipped quietly away on August 31, at home, aged 104. Since then I've been sorting all her affairs and clearing her house. John and I have managed one night away in two years so we can't wait for Dieppe. Sorry to ramble on and thanks again.

Because you need a ref. no. to put on your PLF and our Gov't doesn't want the NHS (i.e. the taxpayers) to fund peoples' holiday costs.

I would advise starting your passenger locator forms here - you can save the first part and then finish them off 72 hours before returning.
If you’re going to France you need to complete a declaration sur l’honneur to say you have no symptoms and you haven’t been in contact with a positive case.
If you’re travelling by Eurotunnel it’s much easier if you upload the declaration up to their website before you go and your PLF before you come back.
You will also find it easier over there if you have uploaded your vaccination status to the TousAntiCovid App.
Final thing if you are over 65 you need to show evidence of your booster for your ‘passport’ to eat in any restaurants etc.

It sounds as if you’ve had an awful time of it. Enjoy your break. We went in October and it made me feel there was life post Covid.

If you've managed the probate forms, the passenger locator forms will be easy. It's good advice to do it and save the forms before you go. As for tests coming back we booked ours with simplytest. The email confirmation with the code you need for the locator form came back almost immediately. Doing the tests was easy and equally quick getting the email confirmation of test result.

Have a great trip.

Hi, me again. I've successfully sorted the Locator forms, saved for later, thanks to all your usual great Funster help. Going through papers from our last trip which was BC (Before Covid) I've found our International Driving Permits, still valid, and a green card for our previous Motorhome. Are they now required since we're well and truly Brexited ? Also, random question, does anyone have the 0800 number for DFDS/TRANSMANCHE ? I must have used it nearly a hundred times but seemingly never wrote it down and can now only find a 13p per minute number. (I have to book by phone to get our 20% Old Fogies discount).

Gillygrim - there's a couple of 0800 numbers but this is one for France enquiries so might be the right one: 0800 9171201. No doubt they'll put you through to the right number if it isn't that one!

Yes, that's def the number I remember ! I'll put it straight in my Contacts. Thank you all. Another snippet of info I've found out today - as the Booster jab doesn't appear to get a little card in most surgeries, and France will require proof from mid December, if you ring your surgery they will print off your record with proof of all your jabs including the Booster.
