Saw this while I was looking at Mirror Guards. Can anyone explain what you do with it, please? And, does anyone use it/them? Thanks

On board ships we used silver anodes to purify evaporated seawater, an Elekro Katadyne installation. Though this had an electric current running through it. Only 25% of the evaporator output went through it but it then sterilised the remainder in the FW tank. Seemed to work though being distilled water it was tasteless.
