Do you keep them on in the winter while the motorhome is not in use

Nope only when using it.

Silver screen advise not to use them on the outside during storage, but do say they can be used inside for that purpose (never done it that way, myself!)

Yep, put them on to keep the sun from discolouring the upholstery.

Yes internal one's as soon as we get home.As Ecky says keeps sun off upholstery stops it fading.
