Silver Birch Aire - newly opened in Dumfries & Galloway

£10 a night sounds a bit steep for just parking!

£4 waste & water as a stop-n-drop - works for me & my 5m van!
Thanks arthur49

For some reason your hyperlink opens a Facebook log in page on my iPad. As I don’t do Facebook how about just telling us where it is?

Frome what I see it just a field so why the restrictions on sizes of vans Bogong down comes to mind

It does, but I guess they can only work with what they've got. It's a maximum 5 vans. There's plenty of other mh accommodation in the area.
For me, it's nice to find places that cater for smaller vans that can't carry loads of kit, without being overshadowed by all-singing all-dancing bigger rigs.

maybe been posted a few times already , had a 7.5m Motorhome on it one of the nights we walked past , no facilities though …….we were in the campsite down the road on a beautiful beach with all the facilities….each to their own but would do as an overnight stop , pup nearby for food and refreshments. Carradale village, north of Campbeltown, Argyll.

This is the second year of FLS trialling stops on a few of its parking areas. Most have no facilities though a couple do (which may be closed overnight so they are for self-contained vehicles only). Some also have a fee to stop over, and ranger visits to check numbers. Full details & locations here:

What's the difference to a CL - five pitches?
Technically, I suppose, maybe you don't get out chairs etc (though nothing in the rules to say so) but in reality I agree! it's a CL by any other name but will have been supported either by CAMpRA (ie MHFun) or by the D&G Aires Support Grant of up to £5k contribution to set-up costs (which also needs intervention of eg MHFun or MCC for permissions). From the signage I think it's the D&G initiative.
I'm not sure I like their website address!!!

We used one of these back in April on the A83 near Rest and Be Thankful. Was very welcome as we'd had to change our plans due to road closures and gave us a quiet overnight spot.

I used the Forestry one at Kirroughtree in May. Paid the small fee (about £8 I think) at the cafe, just before it closed around 5pm. Very quiet overnight and plenty of room. Had a nice evening walk. A few other vans there. The "disabled" loo was left open overnight. It was perfect for us just before getting the ferry to Ireland - only a 40 minute drive to Cairnryan.
