I'm at the Cirencester club site for a couple of nights and in the blurb the site gives you it mentions that if you leave your pitch for a day out but you're returning later to put a sign up saying that you're on a certain pitch. Ok, sounds like a good thing to do. Not really thought about it before.
So, my questions are, anyone use / got one? If so, what do you have on it? Name? Registration?
What do you have? A cone? A sign on a stick / metal stake? Sign on a chain hanging between two sticks / stakes?
Anyone know where to get them made up?
Ta.

we just use a number plate on a piece of 2X1. Does the trick and is cheap

More than toes wet now!
On a C&MHC site I just stick a dinky wee traffic cone over the marker peg. You've got to remove it to see the pitch number to tell the warden where you are.

We did use a number plate that was in the van when we bought it, but have now found a better use for it on the back of the towbar cycle rack

If we do go off site usually leave the EHU cable and a few other odds and sods. EHU is old and has lost flexibility, as it is used for permanent connection at home, so no great loss. Have seen signs for sale in C&MC shops

I can remember my dad doing this back in the early 60s, t'was good enough then & still is today however I like the idea of a posh sign.

I wrote "Reserved" with a marker pen on a piece of plank screwed onto a piece of broken windbreak pole thirty years ago when we didn't have any money. Been sticking it in the ground ever since, it looks naff but now has a bit of nostalgia to it so will probably carry on using it.

If someone likes your pitch more than the others they'll simply throw any marker over a hedge or even easier...reverse over it.
Not everyone is thoughtful and honest.

I think the point, particularly on a CMC site, is not to prevent someone nicking your pitch, but simply to indicate that it’s taken as a convenience to others. If someone takes your pitch, when they go back to reception they’ll be told it’s already taken.

As roger says, a bucket will do.

Don't leave anything that might be of interest to someone else otherwise you could find it has mysteriously 'walked' when you return ... a simple stick with a flat piece of timber/plastic on it cross ways with your name/registration number on is sufficient along with a cable tie to attach it to the pitch marker when you go out ... just remember to retrieve it when you leave the site completely.

We’ve got a left over bit of plastic skirting trim with reg number on it. We use two of the pegs we carry for the awning tie down to prop it up on the vacated pitch.
