Last week we spent 5 days touring this little known region of Spain, at the point where Murcia, Castille-la Mancha and Andalucia all meet. The scenery is stunning, lakes, mountains, waterfalls and thousands of butterflys.
The roads are good, although narrow, great care needed driving through Quesada on the A315.
Feedback on the campsites we stayed at as follows:-

Rio Mundo - Mesones (ASCI no. 2408), very good for 18 euros, easy to find and helpful man on reception. Be sure to visit the waterfall at Nacimiento del Rio Mundo.

Camping Garrote Gordo - near La Toba, AVOID. Cost 24.44, very poor facilities once we managed to find it. They only turned the wifi on when we bought a drink and turned it off again once we finished.

Camping de las Herrerias - near Burunchel, large centre with all facilities, cost 20.40 euros, wifi was extra. ASCI standard but not in scheme.

Sierra Maria - Maria (ASCI no. 2435) very good value for 16 euros but no wifi.

Someone asked where all the Funsters are when they are on the road, well on our travels we only saw 3 motorhomes in the first 4 days, 2 Spanish and 1 German. Last day, Friday, returning to Castalla using the A7 we saw 6 including 1 other Brit!!

If anyone would like any details of route, places etc then send us a PM.

yes , great trip . we did it up from adra , through the sierra de nevada and up through where you went then headed through the national parks north wards . spain inland is great. we were there in april . it was fantastic and so green this year. we spotted red squirrels and wild boars running around . fantastic .
we carried up north to the right of madrid by the lakes near sacedon . then east on the donquiote route . great trip.
we didnt use campsites it was very quiet and we sneaked wild camping all the way . but great scenery and fantastic roads .
shame its so cold inland through the winter there are some great places .
nice canyon de la los lobas between burgos and soria . and a great lake ,spains biggest natural lake that in november hosts as many as 30.000 cranes on their way to morocco. google lac de gallocanta. we go there every year its amazing seeing so many birds in one place .
