we discovered this by accident about four years ago it is a great festival with much of the entertainment free see here Broken Link Removed the campsites around do a free bus evry 30 minutes if i remember rightly

One week ticket £222 I think we may entertain ourselves.:)

thats for the concert marquis. the main folk groups /dancers and entertainers in the local bars and along the sea front are free and good :D

If you want to see all the headliners it's £326 a ticket. £326!!! This is folk music for gods sake, music for ordinary people with simple tastes but yes, once again the public gets right royally ripped off.

Went there in the late seventies. Camped under canvas in a field and walked into town. All acts were free going on in various pubs. Must be chocka now.

Yep it gets pretty busy, agree headline acts are expensive which is why we now only use the pubs and see front entertainers who in my opinion are much more into genuine folk music and in many cases better than the so called headliners (y)

Meet the wife there in 1973 when folk music was just that. None of the rocky folk bands of the modern era.
It was a great weeks entertainment with loads of uk and international acts, sponsorship from the local council and nobody in it for the money.
Ticket prices are not cheap but you might be surprised just how much the marquees and infrastructure costs to hire in.
If you fancy a weekend festival in early Sept try Bromyard ff one of the best but then I ran it for a few years so perhaps a bit biased.
