We're planning the winter pilgrimage down to the costa del fortune. Although we have the Windblockers I was hoping for a bit more privacy this year. What's the best place for some side panels? Are the Thule Ommnister panels any good?

Any useful tips or experience much appreciated.

Or are there any reasonable alternatives ?

We’ve got the 5m Omnistor awning and bought the Thule sides and front. We often just put the sides on to give some privacy and block the wind out. It can also make a full room if you want, good to keep the dog contained! Not cheap but we think well worth it. Travelled to Hill View Awnings near Poole, excellent service and advice.

I had a Full Safari room on the last (UK) R-V. It was OK for Long term use. But a right "faff" and needed a set of steps to put up and we rarely used it on weekends, unless we where having all the grand-kids when the older ones used an Inner tent. The Wind-blockers are much lighter and far quicker to erect. If we want privacy I just attach a large flag or add a Windbreak on the outside of them?. It was also VERY heavy when packed which could be an issue if you have a 3.5t `van?.

Thank's Peter that's a cool idea. I'm 4.5 t so no problems weight wise, however there's always a squeeze on room, the Augusta is twin singles and no big garage. The Lilypad windblockers have been excellent but a bit open to the world. I could get a couple of cheap flags and line them to provide cover. I'll investigate.

Paddywacks safari room might also be ideal, it's good value, but I'm in France and he's up north. I won't be back in the UK 'till October so maybe he'll have sold it by then.
