I own a 2019 Citroen Relay PVC and recently having intermittent issues with the side door not unlocking using remote, every other door is OK, the only solution is to go in via a front door and open the side door from the inside.

This has proved to be an intermittent fault and is quite apparent when it happens, on locking the vehicle a loud 'clunk' from the side door lock actuator can ALWAYS be heard but on unlocking, if you don't hear the actuator loud 'clunk' then you know the fault is present. When unlocked, there is some 'quieter' activity in the lock when the fault is present, possibly the deadlock releasing? I have checked the cabling from lock assembly to the connector pins on the door and also cabling and connection pads on side door pillar, all looks good with ohm meter.

I am not convinced the Sliding Door Lock is the cause and with a price tag of Ā£150 for a replacement I would rather do some further testing.

Does anybody have expertise to test the side door lock actuator is functioning correctly by applying 12V to the door pins, does it work by reversing the polarity? I have been trying to source a wiring diagram for the central locking but no success.

Any other components / connections to check, again unable to glean much information on this, e.g. Location of Relays, Control Unit if present etc.

The Sliding Door Lock is a standard Fiat part so I presume the wiring will be similar to a Fiat Ducato.

Is it weather related by any chance, our 2019 Ducato sliding door has been a right sod in either cold or warm weather. Constantly triggering the alarm. Eventually spoke to Carl at OSTT and he said he has seen many a panel van where rapid changes in temperature cause movement on the door breaking the connection. It was very noticeable at the time of year, cold nights still, followed by sun on the van = expansion and contraction of the door

Check the connections pins where the electrical connection is between the body and the door. They can move apart over time. Also the middle prong that pushes the button on the vehicle can be pushed in and another make contact.

Does the door alarm beep when going round corners?

As per 2x2Camper, it might be the contacts not fully connecting? The side door on mine wasn't always locking (by contrast), and I put a plastic spacer behind the pad (even though the contacts looked spotless) to move it towards the door a bit, and it seemed to work.

You might have searched this already, but here's an alternative approach (one of many):-

Looks like the concensus is connection pins so spent the afternoon going over them again and raising the pads on the door pillar. With the panel off the side door I was able to confirm continuity with meter but still no joy being able to unlock the side door with fob, OK locking. Out of interest checked out the voltages on pads on door pillar when pressing fob, unlocking little or no voltage, locking, voltage present (managed this by leaving door open and holding the small button within pads closed emulating door closed). Tonight the van side door lock working again, re-measured the voltages on the pads and voltages now present on both lock and unlock cycles so 'outtheoffice' may be correct, temperature related. The question is what now, is there a central locking module?

The fault turned out to be a break within the wiring loom (unlock signalling wire) just above and to the left of the side door before it goes across the roof behind the passenger and drivers seats. There is a tight corner here with sharp edges and for some reason the only part that doesn't have trunking, also temperature related as the sun beats down on this panel. I managed to piece in a new length of wire and now operating correctly.

If you can, I would also suggest checking the wires where they enter the driver's side rear door as a future precaution - this was also, for me, where wires were splitting and were somehow preventing the side door from central locking.

many many years! since I was a kid
I expect it is either a poor connection on the wiring or the master actuator on the drivers door is faulty. This sort of fault can take many hours to trace if it is intermittent
