Just fitted new pump like for like. Just keeps pumping and doesn’t turn off. Small amount of water sputtering at taps then they stop.
What’s wrong?

Check the pressure valve is working, check you have wiring correct, check for leaks, trapped air lock, after all it relies on the pressure switch to turn on/off.
Good luck.(y)
LES

What was the old one doing?

Check the boiler dump valve is closed.

Sounds like air in the system still.

Probably an air lock, close the taps then just open then a tiny fraction so pump is running, leave for about 5 min.
I've had it several times on mine the above always sorts it out.

sticky pressure switch probably

Where is pressure switch found.
I changed it because the old one was getting very noisy and thought it was on the way out.

I had a simalar problem was unable to bleed /clear the system it turned out to be a faulty non return valve between the pump and the fresh water tank mine sounded just like your problem. i changed the pump for a new one when that did'nt work called in a caravan/ motorhome engineer to sort it.

Shureflo pump doesn't need a non return valve.

Built into the pump.

Take the flow pipes off the pump. Turn pump on and see if there is a strong suction into the pump by placing finger over one of the flow ports. If it is very strong ie your finger really gets stuck to the pump there is nothing wrong with the pump. If it is very weak you have a faulty replacement pump.
When my pump failed in August the pump was working on command trying to pressure the system but it just would not do so. I took the supply pipes off and could feel a small pressure draw and as i didn't know what to compare against assumed pump was working. Eventually just ordered new pump and when tested yes the pump vacuum press on the finger was much greater so fitted and water immediately pressurised. So it could be you have faulty replacement. Send it back and ask for another.

Hi folks all sorted now. Put more water in the tank left pump running then cracked the kitchen tap slightly and let the air out and gradually opened tap more and seems ok now. Thanks for replies all ready for Christmas run to Keswick now happy days.

Lenny HB my van is a autotrail imala 730, 67 plate when i gave up on trying to fix my water problem and got a professional motorhome engineer to investigate! he found and replaced the non return valve! and gave me the faulty one! perhaps this valve is common to my model. ??

There is a NRV on the Truma boiler to allow air into the system to allow water to discharge from the boiler when the dump valve opens. If this NRV fails it prevents the pump from operating efficiently cos it's pumping water out of the system via the clear plastic overflow pipe which discharges below the van.

Thanks for your info, as the pump was replaced with a new one this NRV was not the cause of my problem ! the non return valve which had gone faulty was connected in line somewhere between the pump and the fresh water tank , this was allowing the water to be pushed back into the freshwater tank and not allowing the water to flow out of the taps, replacing it cured my problem (coughing and spluttering and not clearing) have you heard of this in line NRV ?

If you check the Truma boiler User Manual, reference is made to using an optional NRV.

I was having problems with the cold taps spluttering and drawing hot water from the boiler. I inserted a NRV between the pump and boiler (between the cold water takeoff feed and the dump valve). This stopped the spluttering and hot water backfeeding into the cold water system.

So yes, a NRV can help keep the water circulating in the right direction. Submersible pumps normally have a NRV incorporated within the outlet to prevent water draining back into the freshwater tank. This prevents the formation of air-locks within the pipework and so avoids spluttering taps.

Shureflo pumps are a diaphragm pump which effectively creates its own NRV.

Strange how the new sureflo pump did'nt cure the problem !

Odd, I changed my submersible pump for a Shureflo no nrv in line with mine I plumbed it myself. My pump is just above to the side of the tank hose length bottom of pick up tube is about 2 ft.
