Truma usually work from gas or electric if you are plugged in. You can select both on some units to speed up heating.
Send a pic of the panel and help will wing it’s way very soon.

Could you post pics of the switch. Are you in a hook up?
Our water heater works on gas or electric. If you are in hook up, you may have a 240v switched socket which needs switching on.
If running on gas, is there a cover on the outside of the van covering the water heater vent? This needs removing.

Not at the moment, but yes i had it on. Any idea if the fuse button beside the heater button has anything to do with it?

I would think the red switch with tap under needs to be on as does the Carver switch & the gas also?
Hopefully someone with the same set up will be along shortly . w2f

I think it works both. But as i said cant get working. Prob only something simple. I didnt realize the cover had to come off, its screwed and glued on

On your heater the cover does not have to come off . it is a calver cascade heater as long as gas is on ans the switch is down it should work . You should get a green light if all ok any other combination of amber or red there is a fault. If you have notgot the manual try google search.

That is not a Truma unit, it is a Cascade unit made by Carver. I think they are obsolete now.

And you are correct, the cover you show does not need to come off for it to work, that comment only applies to Truma units.

I used to have one on our caravan about 30 years ago, but can't remember whether it was electric only or gas driven. I used to switch it on by pushing the knob down, but can't remember what the 3 lights represent. Suggest you Google Carver Cascade as lots of links to information comes up.

On the item marked Carver put the switch to the bottom setting and after a period you should get a green light. If not flick it off and on as sometimes it takes a while to get the gas through to the burner.

Bottom left switch is to heat it via electric whilst connected via EHU.

Lastly is there water coming to the hot tap if not the boiler may be empty.

If you are getting water through the 'hot' tap and gas or electric is on it should heat up. Can you hear a clicking on the outside near the cover . that is the ignition trying to light the gas. To see if you have electric element look at the end of the heater tank for a white round box with a wire going into it. Also you can remove the outside cover via the 4 screws and look at the gas burner behind to see if it is in good condition . The screwdriver slot at the bottom is to remove the drain plug for draining in the winter. The white plastic bit at the top is for pressure relief and there is another that is for over temperature 'fuse' dont damage that one as thay are as rare as hens teath .The other parts you can get off ebay. There was a guy in Nottingham that used to repair them Arcsystems i think.

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
Have you tried to operate it on gas and 240v and does neither work?

I have exactly that one - a Carver Cascade 2 (from approx 1995) which works very well.
It works on gas at any time provided that you have gas in the cylinders and the 12v hab battery is charged. It will also work on 240v when plugged in to a mains electric hook-up point.
It will have its own gas supply tap inside the m/h in addition to the main tap on the gas cylinder.

From the manual.......

Have you filled the water heater? Is water coming out of the the hot tap in the kitchen?
The fused switch might be for the water heater to work on mains but it should work on gas with that off.
Is the control panel in your pic switched on as it seems to show that there is no water in the tank.

It is, as you say, the fuse for the 240v (mains) supply to the heater.

The OP still hasn't said whether the water doesn't heat up just on elec or just gas, or on neither.
Not much more help can be given as there are multiple possibilities until that is known.

(I see he/she has used 7 of their 5 free posts so maybe we'll never know.................).

Your correct the fused switch purely controls the 240v for the electric element, the Carver switch turns on the gas ignition. The switch below the water gauge needs to be pressed to the left to show the fresh water level and to the right to show the waste water level. The red switch is to turn the water pump on.

On and off for many years.
Is this manual of any help?

Also check that there isn't a secondary (or even third) gas cut off valve on the line to the boiler. Our last van had three and the one nearest the boiler was turned off - the plastic tap thingy (going all technical there) was damaged and appeared to have been turned when it didn't. A pair of pliers on the nut needed to turn on and off at that valve.
