Hi folks,

I was quite pleased with this so I thought I'd share. Might be useful for others.

We use our shower in the van quite a bit, and we tend to wet down, switch off, soap up, rinse off etc. I think I spend more time (and hence water) getting the temperature right than I do actually showering. I bought a shower head from eBay with a trigger, but it was rubbish frankly.

Then I chanced upon this. It's just a ball valve with a male connector one end and female the other. 3/8" BSP, fits right onto the outlet from the mixer. Get the temperature right once, and then just shut it all off with this. Doesn't seem to reduce the flow, and it's easily able to hold back the pressure of the pump. In fact we don't switch the taps off now - just leave them in the right positions for next time.

£2.55 delivered from eBay. Fitted with a bit of PTFE tape to make the thread watertight. Easy.

Seems a great idea and works well for you, but aren't you a little worried that if you leave the taps on and this switch fails, you'll flood or cause yourself problems?

I'm lucky as my shower is fitted with a mixer tap, so don't have that issue. You could always mark the taps in a suitable way and then turn them to the same mark each time to get the same temp :)

Best thing of all, is that it works for you and thanks for sharing :)

We always switch the pump off when we're not in the van, and when we're in we'd definitely hear it if the valve failed :) No more likely to fail than any of the other parts as far as I can see. All the plumbing is done with push-fit connectors which can come off if disturbed in the right way... so no, not especially concerned :)

Jetstorm for low bar pressure and electric showers. DONT get anything but the low bar or it will be useless.
