The chrome dish actually comes out. I've removed mine a few times to clean it.
Gently prise it out with a screwdriver but with care. You can then clean and remove debris.

Thanks both.
wiljoy - is it just the centre raised part or the whole crome piece?

Same as mine, the whole chrome piece pulls out, you can do it with your fingers. Underneath is a sort of little bucket which you can also pull out, usually full of assorted pubes and slime.

Rather than use a screwdriver, feed a cable tie under the centre dome so that it provides something to lift the chrome finished section by holding each end of the tie. Simples and no scratches/damage etc ?

Oops I was just eating when I read that post

Thanks for the replies - its easy when you know how - lifted out with fingers and cleaned the bucket as well. All good now - Mrs Colpot will be happy to use the shower now - once I have cured the cloudy smelly water problem..........

I have run it through with Puriclean and it appeared to fix it but its come back again. Will probably flush it through again when we are nearer to using it for more than days out.

I buy bulk crystallised white vinegar, mix it up and put it in the tank. Then pump it into the hot water heater bring up to 60deg and leave for Half an hour, drain it, pull any remaining liquid through and flush with fresh water. seems to work fine, and the vinegar is OK with the Alloy in the Heater.
