I'm in need of some inspiration...

I want to fit a grab handle to the inside of the sliding door, near the rear of the door, to make it easier to close from the inside.

Can you share a pic of any grab handles you've fitted? And how did you attach it? Was it bolted through? Or just large self tappers? I'm thinking it needs to be a significant fixing to take the weight?

In terms of handle itself, I was thinking of the spring loaded type that sits flush to the roof of some cars and you lift it out when needed.

Something like this:

It needs to be black too, otherwise it'll play havoc with my OCD.

Not sure about this spring loaded type though as the rear of these doesn't appear to be flush and it might need holes cutting in to the door?

I'd be grateful if you could share your mods :)

We've got what looks like an Ikea drawer handle attached horizontally to a strip of wood that's been screwed to the door. It's a poor solution because it's not that nice to hold AND if the door opens too fast, at the end of the travel it actually catches the edge of the frame and has chipped the paint.

This is mine, standard fit on Knaus PVC. The handle is the same type as over the driver/passenger doors but without the coat hook nub. Seems substantial enough and is very handy for doing a quiet(ish) door close ?

I'll have to take a photo of my door and associated blind-framing as I only have one strip of exposed metal in which to attach a handle, hence my thoughts along the lines of a folding/spring loaded type.

But this strip is all I have available, the rest is either covered or contains blinds:
