Good morning
First GREAT setups Envy!!
I have a garage with a metal roof and when It's as cold Is like standing under a waterfall because of condensation. Any suggestions for a cheap way to insulate It please.

RoyW said he had a pit in his garage. My Grandad used the man hole on the drive as a pit. I did an oil change on his car down there. I stood in man hole and he rolled the car over the top. It was a bit smelly and Grandma couldnt use the toilet untill I came out.
The health and hygiene lot would have a wobbly these days about that now. I did use a bucket for the old oil.

Jesus, don't let anyone know where you live with all that lovely festool gear. Best get some good security on that shed. My partner insists on keeping all his festool toys, in the house, filling the spare bedroom.

Sheet steel inner walls under the panelling and roof. 2 internal independent alarm systems + connected to the house alarm. PIR Lighting all round. Night vision CCTV all round and inside with motion detectors and Tel alert system. It takes me 10 minutes just to gain entry and I have the keys and alarm codes.

Excellent! We are renovating our old brick built garage this year and I am hoping it will be sufficiently secure and luxurious for him to contemplate relocating the Festool hoard into somewhere more appropriate!.

My motorhome is kept in a very very secure compound with the CCTV, Dogs, more dogs, and a cat! Leaves me just enough room for my toad in the garage.

I can‘t show you the inside of Max’s garage as when we converted the integral one into two rooms he had to put everything in his new one so with his classic car and everything else he has filled a 24 ft x 14 ft its so full I won’t even attempt to get in it to take a photo.

A few sheets of 50mm polystyrene and couple of tubes of pink grip has mostly sorted my metal shed out, might have to wait for it to warm up a bit though.

Yes its lovely, this is it at an earlier stage, (the strap was to brace it while the grout went off between the foot and the floor) The erected frame was £6k plus vat, but a lot of work went into the reinforced slab, removing a couple of hundred tonnes of soil and getting the lego blocks there.

What a great thread.
We moved out late last year and are currently in temp accommodation while waiting for the new place to be completed (hopefully before the stamp duty holiday ends).
I have ambitious plans for both house and external spaces including a new garage, covered motorhome port and workshop. This should be our final move so planning for everything to be just right and accounting for a lifetime of experience and pitfalls.
Here's a picture showing the self-built cabin/workshop I left behind. The SWMBO insisted on calling it a shed and kept storing her garden tools there so she will get her dedicated shed first.

Unfortunately my garage is soaking wet. Have now got a dehumidifier running 24/7, its better, but not good.

I had one of those, I had one of those - TZR250 with rear straight exhaust - broke my heart trying to get the carburetion right - gave up in the end. Brilliant fun though!!!

and next I’m going to insulate the roof with 50mm Kingspan.

The only sure fire way to stop that is to replace the sheets with anti condensation box profile sheets surprisingly cheap and easy to fit.

I have box profile sheets plus a roofing membrane already but during this really cold weather I get soaked, partly due to living in Wales where a damp day then a cold night generally means my benches are wet In the morning. I think the polystyrene sheeting may be the answer.

I bought a bike lift about 6 years ago and now would not be without it so much easier to work on bikes.
I think what made my mind up was when I went to kneel on the floor and knelt on a bolt, that brought tears to my eyes never again.

When I worked at the bus garage the workshop backed onto one of the docks. The newer pits were ready formed metal inserts in the floor but the old pit at back was filled in when I started there. The older guys said that pit used to flood at high tide.
Also there were still tram tracks in the floor. Our tool boxes were wrecked dragging them over the tracks.
The pits in the Lincoln workshops were in the old railway workshops. They were designed for working on railway locos so were too shallow for working on buses. It was a daily event banging you’re head.
