When I was taught to type many years ago subject header was always in capital letters, old habits die hard.
That is fine in a book or a document but not on a forum where it is to seek advantage above other users
IMHO

In the absence of a manual instructing me on posting etiquette I'm afraid I have to disagree, I tend to use capitals for headers or titles, not to "Seek advantage above other users" but out habit of many many years writing documents manuals and procedures. I have no problems at all with posters using bad grammar or poor spelling but to I do draw the line on being told which 'case' to use.:(

It is clear to see what is normal. The vast majority of internet users post their thread titles the same or with the odd highlight. Posting in ALL capitals it is easy to see that one is being unconventional amongst the many whether habit or not.
I'm not laying down any rules Tony, only expressing my opinion. (y)

Yes
I'll not succeed in changing the world
As I said in op it's a pet hate akin to driving around with fog lights on 3 weeks after passing through a mile of fog

So glad you know peoples intentions perhaps better than they do., my partner is a bit deaf, so I have to shout lol. Personally I read the headers if they interest me i read the posts if not i don't bother, capitals, small, italics, blue green red, it is the content which is important.
Now 'help needed' in the header and no indication of what help is needed for, that irritates me a little, but does not annoy. Too trivial to get het up about.

So the capitals you mention are not in a thread , no problem then ;)
My opening post explains my complaint In that using caps lock to type a thread title is effectively shouting over everyone else's thread title
Edit
I deliberately posted this thread title in capitals to illustrate my point

On a similar note, can I mention people that send every email flagged as High Importance? My boss used to do that, grrr.
Or can I mention people that deviate and change the thread
Ah, I'm following Jim's lead in keeping new threads low.

Oh dear, only just seen this thread... I have some days that due to medication my eyesight is bit skew whiff and capitals and bold help me to see the keyboard .. I never really thought of whether I was offending anyone in title or post ... so sorry if I have anybody.

The only thing that offends me is a sarcastic nasty comment but again that seems to be me .. I guess we are all different .. thank goodness. :) :)

Hi joy
On nearly all devices it is possible to increase your text size as you see it especially on smart phones
That is a better long term solution for eyesight
My phone text is set quite large and bold, my kids laugh at me

I think life is way to short to actually be bothered by this. I don't care. Use what you like.

Let's start a new trend, revert to correct grammar, properly spelt words, indented paragraphs, ending with your sincerely if a person is named and yours faithfully for all addressed as sir or madam! (y)

Should that be "yours sincerely if a person etc."?:p

A lot of people say "what's the point" and "not bothered about this"
BUT... They are all bothered to write something down about it...!

Hey..! That's the point of forums gives us all something to SHOUT about.....:hugs:

Approx 10% of males are partially colour blind (red/green/brown). I am unable to read the word in yellow? in the text for that reason. (Red on blue is impossible)

Traditionally Eng Lang:
all caps is technically correct (as is the correct mix)
all lower case isn't technically correct
So I'd (personally) prefer all caps.
A bit like the "grocer's (or is it "grocers' "?) apostrophe" - I'd (personally) rather see none, than see one in the 'wrong' place ;)

When writing articles, documents etc it was (is) common practice to write(type) the headers in UPPER CASE.
It is merely some internet convention that decrees that UPPER CASE indicates shouting.

Nowadays I write everything in UPPER CASE but that's because I can't do joined up writing anymore (or thinking) and I do tend to SHOUT a lot. :)

When I follow a link from the forum then come back, I generally find that everything that's been formatted (bold, italic, underline, colour etc) has disappeared, along with the writing on the oblongs under the reply box, so I've started using capitals, quotation marks and indents for stress instead.
Does this happen to anyone else??? o_O
