Hi everyone

I'm going to look at a mh this week it's a Pilote Explorateur G742 LGJE..

Is this a wise decision considering we have never had a mh before?

I'm used to a lot of driving admittedly in a 4x4 so I'm not worried to much about the size just whether it's a good model.

We will be using it in the UK only and there's just the 2 of us ( not including the 3 dogs)

Thanks in advance

Gramt

Unfortunately I passed my driving test a long time ago 👍

As already mentioned, you need C1 on your licence. If you passed your test before 1997 you should have it.

Where do I find Jim's buying guide?

I understand from the seller that the payload is wrong with the dvla due to the poliote chassis so it will be over 3500

Jim's guide is in the Resources section - blue bar at the top of the page, towards the right. The guide is usually in the top line as it's very popular - a good decision to read it before you do anything else.

Oh and by the way :welcome4: to the Fun. Lots of advice to be had here to help you.

Get the dealer to correct the log book as a condition of the sale, get that condition in writing.

I would suggest maybe renting a van of a similar layout before you part with your hard earned cash. As you read through various threads here, you will soon see that it isn't so much about "location location location" and more "layout layout layout"!!! From our own experience when we hired before buying recently, it was an eye-opener in quite a few ways and led to us reconsidering quite a few things before placing our deposit on a van. If that isn't an option, then in addition to all the things above, make sure you try it as if it were real. Get in the van and pretend its bucketing down outside. Can you both sit around comfortably without getting in each others way? Do you have enough space in the shower to wash rather than just get wet?! If one of you wants to go to bed earlier than the other, what will the other person do? I know that renting is pricey, but buying a van that you hate the layout of in 2 months time is considerably more so!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do though and welcome to Fun!
