... you MUST be desperate to eat that ... never mind make it in the first place! :D2

Seriously though ... take the pastry and other ingredients out of the fridge at least an hour earlier so it can warm up a bit, it will then cook quicker in the oven and save gas. (y)

I do presume you rotated the dish a few times in cooking? looks very good heat distribution if not (y)

If we didn't we would have black at the back and raw at the front, like I regularly manage just dong part baked bread if I forget to turn it o_O

I was kidding about the oven being shite... As i've said on other threads... it works for moi :)

There was a time when I couldn't look at CB without feeling sick...
CB and chips was a reguar...

As for the Flan.. We used to get fed it as children (6 of us) - Usually on a Sunday night afer mother had spent the afternoon baking etc...
We'd listen to "The Clithero Kid" followed by the "Top 20" and finish with "Sing Something Simple" with the Adam Singers....

Fond memories of sitting around the fire, radio on... having a family supper...

It popped into my head so thought i'd make it.... and it is/was very tasty ...

I'll be eating some cold for lunch today :)

God, I used to hate Sing Something Simple as it always marked the end of the weekend. End of Sing Something Simple meant the weekly bath then bed....then skool the next day :(

I actually loved corned beef and mustard pickle butties when I ate meat for a short while ..

That looks delicious to me .. although my oven would make it raw at the front and burnt at the back .... and I am wondering whether I could use Quorn veggie mince instead of corn beef ...

Nawh!!... it's the corned beef that makes it... tasty with the fried onion...

Mince ( of any sort) would be.... well ... a disaster... dish!.. IMO

Edit: @movan if you want that taste... you'd have to come back to the dark side... ;)

Ralph loves corned beef . I buy the sliced sandwich stuff and he takes it with sliced onion and /or pickle to work.
I remember slimming world did something similar can of corned beef , mushed up, onion peas , peppers and eggs , like a giant omelette. It was a "free" food. So it can't be that bad for you to eat.

A Tec tower oven is just a metal box that gets hot inside, no different to any other oven. We get on with ours, the only problems being the restrictive size and the virtually useless grill.
We have had to 'get to know it', practice and not be too ambitious with what we want to cook.

Another family fav was Corned Beef Ash...

Fry off copped carrot and onion for a few mins...
Boil and mash tats...
Stir in carrot and onion with cubed CB..
Bake in oven to get a crispy top... or top with cheese...

Or use as filling in pasties....

Although we rarely have it now, I quite like corned beef when we do. The canteen of former employer of mine used to do a wicked corned beef hash. Maybe i need to think about making one for old times sake?

Getting hungry now...

Corned beef hash is one of our stand-by favourites when we are away in the van.
1x can potatoes, sliced and sautéed in a large frying pan.
1x can corned beef, cubed and added to the pan.
1x can baked beans added and stirred in once the pots and CB is browning nicely.

Yum!

Not a free food anymore - corned beef not been free for at least 5 years!

I don't understand how it could ever have been a free food ... it's got so much fat in it you could cook chips with what oozes out! :D

... nothing to do with being a snob ... just have a better class of taste buds! :D

However, If you don't don't dip into the darker side of life.... appreciation of the lighter side becomes superfluous...
sort of "ying and yang".... (y)
