If you are still in Northumberland you might like to visit Druridge Bay, miles of sandy beach, country park with lake for watersports ..... we used to live just down the road many years ago so I can't say what the parking is like now - at one time there was good car park on the road from Widdrington Village. It's just a lovely, quiet spot to chill out.
