What sort of stitching should I use to repair these underpants (M&S)?

They are less than 25 years old.

I will be doing it by hand as I don't have a sewing machine.

No rush as I do have a spare pair...

How's that for luck, when you purchased those M & S were the best money could buy, unlike what they sell today  but they would have had a 25 year guarantee ;) just need to find the receipt. Bob.

Perhaps you could liven them up a bit by adding brightly coloured insertions at the leg seam! How about heavyweight corduroy in shocking pink? You'll need to use a heavy gauge darning needle and string or fuse wire - you'll get years more of wear out of them...:LOL::LOL:

Option 1. Use fine fishing line...should last another 25 years
2. Stick on a patch with glue.....remember to remove prior to gluing or your goolies may get stuck.
3. Take them back and demand a replacement........you may be removed to the local loony bin.
4.Advertise for a young nyphomaniac to come and mend your pants.........she might kill you but probably worth the effort.
5. Buy a new pair and ask Jim to have a whip round for you at Peterborough.
6. Give up.......go and plant some lettuces
Good luck.;)

Just wear them on your head with your ears through the holes ... won't help your private bits but would make you very interesting to the locals. o_O

Now what about a little crochet border? You could use matching yarn or go for a complete contrast. See my thread "Learn to Crochet?" The border could be attached using blanket stitch or herringbone. If you like I could start another thread on How to do embroidery.

I used staples for sewing 50 years ago. In this case you'd need not to wriggle too much when seated. Else use gaffer tape.

Sadly, gaffer tape does not wash too successfully but is more hard wearing than masking tape or the old fashioned slightly stretchy electrical insulating tape. As soon as you start making stitch holes in the elastic which should be entirely contained within the confines of the waistband, it will commence disintegration at an alarming rate.

If however you entirely remove the parts that once were stretchy you could re-purpose the garment as a lovely soft polishing cloth either for shoes, furniture or indeed one's Classic Hymer.

I should think these are the most appropriate and easiest things to use ... no danger of them coming undone and sticking you in your ... leeks and sprouts!

I think the only sensible solution is this...

Underpants, pray tell, what are underpants? What do they do? :)

They are items of clothing used by folk who have a sound knowledge of comedy and are able to fully appreciate the genius of the Famous Funster Funny Man, Sir Old Mo...

They prevent disasters if one laughes too much and runs the risk of a liquid accident.
