I do believe that 90% of people head for the hotspots on the coast none of which give a true taste of Spain for me,anywhere 100km in from the Med coast is a delight.

Too popular with Day trip tourism too industrialized with Plastic and a touch of 3rd world with the pallet/ tarpaulin homesteads.
Tragic really because the coastline is stunning.

I'm on still on beginner level really with Spain - we have visited some of these places so I'm watching with interest for future trips.

I have to say I've found the Spanish alot friendlier this year since I've tried to learn at least a little bit of the language.

I never go round the corner to the Village of Cabo, usually go as far as San José and maybe cycle up to the Lighthouse.
