My van is Transit based 2007 2.4 with 12500 miles on.

The oil (fully synthetic) and filter were changed early this year, only 3000 miles ago, this morning going to fill up for our impending trip to Dorset the Info panel came on with service oil now, any ideas?

Yes, should have put that its near the top of stick so used very little in the 3000 miles and relatively clean for a diesel.

It's possible that it's just that the computer hasn't been reset at any of the services and it thinks it's due its first oil change.

I would phone the garage that does the servicing and ask if they reset it at the services.

Just googled this
"

Want to reset your transit service light yourself ? Ok, with your ignition off press the brake pedal and Accelerator pedal down at the same time .Now turn your ignition back on but do not start the engine KEEP THE PEDALS PRESSED DOWN the service spanner light will go out, keep the pedals depressed for aprox 30 seconds or untill the light pops back on and flashes.
Take your feet of the pedals turn the ignition of then back on. Your service light will go out and stay of for another 15000 miles."

nowhere near long enough
The above sounds the correct advice but failing that escorts used to do that if you parked it on a steepish slope and started it. the next time you start it on the level it may not come on.

Sorted it (y)

Tried the method that helpful people have posted but that did not work.
Went on the Transit forum and the method is slightly different but worked.

This is copied and pasted from the site.

To switch off the service light in your MK6 or MK7 Transit:

1. Service it
2. Switch on ignition but don't start engine
3. Press Down Brake pedal and Throttle pedal fully, and hold till service light flashes this may take up to a minute, but usually about 15 seconds
4. Switch off igniton

It should be done with the ignition on and mine's not a light but a warning. When both pedals are pressed the screen changes from 'service oil now' to 'reset in progress' keep pedals pressed until screen reads 'reset complete'

Great thing this internet :)
