Hallo one & all,

I'm on the verge of successfuly selling our motorhome. No need to panic as I intend to buy something smaller, more than likely a van conversion this time around!
Anyhow, I'm after some advice or ideas. What would be the best way of taking the substantial funds? Obviously cash can be king, but with a large sum, how can one check for fake notes? Would a bank transfer at the time the buyer arrives & we sign the paperwork over be an acceptable means? I'm just worried about transaction reversal or being scammed out of the funds. Nothing to worry me from our conversations, but maybe I'm worrying too much! Selling something for this sum is not something I've experienced before.

Any insights really appreciated.

Thank you (y)

Bank transfers are ok, sold our motorhome that way, though he paid £2000 deposit the same day, asked me could I hold on to it for 4 weeks, and £20,000 balance 4 days before he picked it up.
Sold a car, transferred £13,000 and waited until I was happy before they left.

Thank you for all the replies, much appreciated! Obviously looks like Bank Transfer is the safest way to go.

Just one extra tip as there have been a few scams based on this..

YOU do the checking that funds are in your own bank account on your own devise.
Dont let anyone say they have done it and show you something on their phone or laptop screen.. This is often used with an excuse that they need to get away for something urgent.

A genuine buyer wont mind waiting until its all confirmed and transfers between banks are almost instant now.
