I have recently bought a MH with a view to semi full-timing but have decided to get a panel van size MH for touring and shelving the full timing idea for now... unfortunately I don't have anywhere to store the vehicle other than the roadside which I'm not keen on.
There is a caravan storage place but not really too keen on that idea... does anyone have any tips on finding big garaging to keep one in ?

I assume your insurance company is okay with it being parked roadside?

Personally I would never entertain that, having had a couple of "hit & runs" in the past, and anyway totally impractical where I live now. For a while I stored it at my workplace, a coach operators yard who actually also had storage facilities but when I "retired" and the company closed (nothing to do with me.....) I moved it to a CaSSOA rated yard about 15 mins from home, but I was lucky as they had just had a bay become vacant otherwise they were full, a situation I hear is not uncommon. Generally, insurance companies are happier as long as the place has a good security record - is there a problem at your local establishment?

An alternative would be something like a farmers barn or yard, if you could find someone amenable and not too far away, but again check with insurance. Also some larger dealers have storage facilities. Sometimes one of these self-storage places has spaces for vehicle storage, although mostly they're unattended so I'd be cautious using one. How about a biggish commercial vehicle operator; they might have an odd corner where you could be safely tucked out of the way?

Perhaps someone from the Leeds area can suggest somewhere local?

I’ve used CAKVS in Elland in the past and was very impressed. Very secure, full time security etc. But it’s secure caravan and Motorhome storage site, so may not be suitable if you’re not keen on that idea.

There's Coney Park Storage by Yeadon Airport and a place on Coutances Way, Ilkley (which is being redeveloped and reducing its capacity) but both are open air storage sites. I tried farmers' barns in the north Leeds area in the Spring but with no success. Ended up at a nice (open air) place near Knaresborough.

I think that the one on Coutances Way in Ilkley is a 9-5 opening times only, with no access outside those times.
