At the moment there is a lot of people buying MH’s due to CV-19 , it’s a sellers market so prices are sky high
in 2 years when CV is a distant memory & a lot of the newbies want to go back to all inclusive foreign holidays
are MH values going to plummet , what’s your thoughts ?

Who knows? everything coming over the water then could have +10% on the price so that would bode well for home sales also what value will the £ be against the € as that must affect UK prices down the line, so as I said "who know" and I could add "or cares"

Some newbies might get hooked and want to keep doing it, especially if UK facilities were to improve. We should just enjoy them I think.

Who cares ? the people who have to make up their mind to buy now or later

Can't do anything about it so why worry.

I may be able to do something about it , ive had serious problems with my MH so might be looking to replace it , I am building a new house for myself so won’t be in a position to use it much , hence to questions

#metoo.... I’m looking for a replacement now and I’m not going to buy something that was 10k less this time last year, everything is well overpriced at the moment and I hate paying over the odds... I’ve resigned myself that I may not have a Motorhome for a year or two..😱
It’s against my ethics to spend my hard earned 30k on something that was worth 20k last year...

We're probably in the same position as you guys, i.e. we'll soon need to divert our attention to other things and then the van will just become a redundant item.

That said, I'm not entirely sure what the MoHo market will be like in the next few years. The roads and campsites in the UK are already cluttered with poor quality plastic vans and I can't honestly see it getting any better.

I just wished I had been around a few years ago when motorhoming appeared to be a much more free spirited hobby.

I do understand the problem but it might be £15k more this time next year or the year after, personally I couldn't be without a motorhome for two years I would go mad.

I understand where you're coming from - but I've always been mad (with or without a motorhome) 🙂

I’ve always believed in living for today as tomorrow might never happen, this made me an achiever if l needed more money l found a way to make it happen.

and remember, yours is a german brand so has an awful lot more to lose than my cheap and nasty british one 😂😂

Sell, sell and just spend spend,it's the end of the world.

I think like all things once something hits a certain price level you will find it hardly ever decreases or becomes cheaper through time.
If you sell high you normally have to buy high and vice versa

Doubt it German ones hold their value so much better.
Not read the detail of the post then Lenny.

Not predicting the rate of loss, just total amount over the life of the vans

( to be fair, with my tongue firmly in my cheek 👍)

I wonder how many of the new buyers, who may have been toying with the idea of a MH, but have been given a push into the market by Covid, have bought in the higher end of the marques?

Or have they all gone for whateve was on the local dealers' forecourts?

From what I have observed over the last 10 years in the pastime/lifestyle the better-built more expensive MHs tend to be the province of those doing more research and spending time on their decision and less likely to be spur-of-the-moment buyers. I wonder if that has changed this year? If so I shall be surprised.

If my assumptions are correct I cannot see that end of the market being influenced much.

Totally agree I'm due to take delivery of a continental van in February and my dealer said if it doesn't come into the UK before 31st December and it a No Deal then expect 10% tariff I said expect a No Deal from me!

We could only order with a £10k deposit so not as easy to walk away ;)

It’s a gamble I know and I’m going mad already even not having one on the drive to fettle with....🥴

it’s because I’ve been careful with my money that I can afford a motorhome now, if I don’t get one in a year or so then I would have saved some more £’s so hopefully will be able to buy a better one when the price’s come down...😊

Whatever the depreciation of mine it will still be insignificant when compared with the enjoyment it gives.
I don't chop and change and bought mine s/hand for cash eight years ago as a 'quality of life' investment not a financial one. It still does absolutely everything I need from it.
Perhaps if I had bought it new and/or with a loan and was considering giving up I might be interested in its resale value.

We all know many factors drive market value (e.g., location, model, mileage, year, layout, demographics, pensions, unit colour, personal reasons for selling.... ) and what persons are prepared to pay for a said package.

Research, research and even more research with some luck on timing aids to a good deal in the eyes of one buyer; and a chuckle from an onlooker who may have the perspective that you got ‘done mate’.

If you can afford the unit and it meets your needs in the short and mid term my advise would be to fill your boots 🥾

When I bought mine I promised myself if it sat on the drive for 8 weeks it had to be sold as I was not using it. Then CORVID hit not checked the weeks that it has been parked I don't think it made the 8 weeks once as the weekends managed to break it up.
If your not using it sell it, I always think it is very sad to see them parked up going green. At the end of the day it your money you spent now you have to decide if you want to get some it not all/more f it back. If you have better/different things to spend it on the van is a pointless garden ornament (I stole that phase from someone else)
Good luck with what ever you do

Great way of thinking , mind you got to have a rainy day fund BUT. go for it otherwise , regrets ? Never over stretch yourself especially for a motorhome

I allway spent hard have fun enjoy Why are you can no good saving two-year-old and then we are going to buy his bits and bobs have fun getting old that’s why I say

I think if they had actually made a lot more motorhomes the market in a couple of years might well have been flooded. But I think whats happened is that the ones already built have been easy to sell and short in supply so the price has blipped up. I think the prices could well go down to what they were before the blip but unlikely to go much lower because theres not been yet a huge increase in manufacturing.
