Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
As was said it must be a Portuguese thing this potatoes and rice with a meal.
I love goat. Years ago we had some for milking and ate the billy kids that were not needed. Never told anyone who was eating them until after the meal.:)
Another super posting.

Like you, we love eating goat.
Eating billy goats would be a positive move for the goat milk industry in the UK.
Better to allow Billy's a useful life than to kill them at birth.

After a peaceful night under the gaze of the numerous religious statues at Bom Jesus, we decided to head for the coast in search of a cool breeze, which we found at Esposende.

image.jpeg

We've tucked ourselves away in a quiet little spot on the sea front - with sea views and only a short stroll to the old part of town.

The town has a scattering of beautiful old buildings, some with intricate tiled facades.

There is a pedestrian esplanade running alongside the sea which we're heading off to explore when it gets a tad cooler.

For the Foodistas

Having arrived at the coast, lunch could only be seafood, which we enjoyed in a smart little restaurant overlooking the sea.

We started with a small mixed

image.jpeg

Followed by a feast of;

Gilt Head Bream - grilled with a hint of garlic

image.jpeg

Grilled Octopus

image.jpeg

Potatoes and veggies

image.jpeg

We enjoyed a chilled bottle of house white wine.

For desert we shared Baba de Camel which was a soft creamy treat (very sweet, made with eggs and condensed milk)

image.jpeg

We both ended with Espresso Coffee and I had a little glass of Brandy

image.jpeg

In case of complaint from contestants I must declare that we also had a basket of bread - a small bottle of water - 12 olives (assorted colours) and that the chef was wearing a hat.

Can you guess the bill?

Can you guess the bill?

Absolutely no idea! - But I'll be very interested to hear what it is Robert :)

p.s. Tesco have an offer on at the moment Cockburn's Special Reserve Port £8 a bottle - if you haven't found one yet?

Im saying 45 euro if the brandy was standard or 50 euro if it was a nice one or 54 euro if it was an XO coqnac.

wife is on phone so her guess will come later

That's a coincidence
We stopped at a local cooperative store this morning, which sold everything from fruit and veg to farmers supplies.
They had a selection of wine, spirits and Port.
The port varied in price from about €3 to €9 a bottle and came in both white and red varieties.
I chose a bottle of the good stuff, hoping it's going to be cheaper than the stuff aimed at tourists in Porto.

It's been matured for 10 years in Oak barrels so hopefully should be a good one

If it was matured in oak barrels then I guess that would be called "Late Bottled" in the UK. It should be nice!

No idea on the meal but I'm going to go low - €38 not including tip.
