Still a newbie
Hi
As i was cleaning the van, I have come across a couple of pinholes in the outer aluminium skin of my camper (Dethleffs, year 2000)
I can't see any damage inside and just want to seal the holes rather than putting a plate on ,and sealing then
Any ideas on how to fill them witout making a mess please, and with what?

I had that problem once on a caravan I used Gel coat filler, after replacing the rotten timber inside the wall.

The pin holes are caused by a reaction between damp wood and aluminium so I think you have a damp problem that needs sorting.

Thanks lenny.
I had a major damp repair done by a dealer about 2 years ago less than a foot from the holes.
I have checked all sealent and it "seems" to be fine.
I will heve a good look again tomorrow.
As regards the hole repair, have you any tips so i don't end up with a mess and have to put a plate to cover the mess

If just a small pin hole only put enough of the filler to fill the hole then put sellotape over it and smooth it down then remove after 30 min. Should leave a smooth surface that won't need any further treatment, if necessary sand with 3000 grade wet & dry..

Thanks lenny.

Hi, sorry to hijack post, I found a couple of pinholes after removing rotten wood against the aluminium skin. You have answered a question I was going to pose.
