Hi Motorhomers,

Please can you give me some advice on a suitable sealant to use on my 2005 Rapido 924F.

I was giving it an end of year clean before putting on its winter cover and discovered a small (1 to 2 mm) hole on the nearside above the passenger door window. See my pic below.

I have spoken to my favourite repairer near Chard, Somerset who suggested simply using some sealant and adding a badge to conceal the repair. He offered to do it for free if I was passing but unfortunately he is about an hour and a half drive away (he is so good and came recommended by a friend whereas my experience of more local repairers has been bad). He also reassured me that no significant damp could have penetrated the interior to cause other problems.

So is there a sealant that any one can recommend?
Hopefully one that will not go hard in the tube after opened, so that I can seal this hole and carry it with me should any other minor scrapes occur in the future.

Thanks
Rapidorob

I read a book about it once...
Sikaflex 221 would be ideal for this

Thank you. Is it just a case of adding a blob? Will I be able to get it off again if making a more permanent repair?

Why not try some gelcoat filler? If you're going to dabs some sikaflex on it anyway then you could alternatively spread a tiny bit of gelcoat filler on it which would be more permanent and won't discolour like sikaflex....

Another vote for Gel Coat filler brilliant stuff and it keeps for years once opened
Hard as nails too! If you're worred about colour match you can add pigment before you mix the hardener in, in order to get a match. I've had great success when used on boats, caravans and grp body panels on trucks.

If it's above a cab window maybe you could fit this strip across:-

Hides the hole and serves a purpose.

HI Everyone who has replied, thank you. It sounds like Gelcoat Filler has the vote. I'll order some today.
