Some time ago a couple funsters offered me a seagull outboard that had been lying in a garage untouched for several years. I bought myself a small fishing boat suitable for the engine only to find the engines were no longer available as family members had in one case disposed of it and in a second given a third party permission to dispose of it. Both happened without the knowledge of the owner so no blame at all. However the fact remains I now have a boat but no engine. I prefer an old seagull as I know I can service them and spares are still available even for 1950's engines. So do you have one gathering dust someplace?

Seen them in skips round here. Get a 4 stroke Honda and save the planet! :)

I guess they are still around but I haven't seen one for ages. If I spot a small ad I'll let you know. Will check local paper this week.

No use to you now but I had one a few years back and was an avid reader at the time of the SOS site which you're probably aware of?

There's one in the Helford River, about 100metres up river from the Ferryboat Inn.
A nephew had one on a jury rig on his Canoe, a bit heath robinson but it worked.
The fool stood up in the Canoe to wee over the side:doh:
If you find it, it might be worth looking around nearby because, he lost a very expensive Camera at the same time, a Ronson Lighter, and his wallet:rofl::rofl:

well I eventually bought a longshaft with clutch, could do with a smaller one really I think so still looking and always carry a second engine anyway. n the mean time I have a gunter rig and sails to fit plus a rudder to add to the outboard so I don't have to change it over.:xsmile:

I,ve got a 40+ with a clutch in the garage,it was the one me and the old man used to use back in the 60,s,he had moorings on the Plym. Its got a score down the piston and last time I used it you could walk faster, sorry wouldn,t part with it.Too sentimental.Tried freecycle?

40+ would suit me a treat, and as I used to service them, replacing a scored piston no problem. You know it really should be used.

You know I've got an old Seagull 4hp that I bought off a guy 25+ years ago on a small home made clinker boat. (got rid of the boat ages ago)
The engine came with a manual a long range tank & an extension handle.
AND a green tin of castrol gearbox oil.
Probably still in the shed with a CBR 600 & a GP1200 jet-ski
Note to self ... need to have a sort out lol

Found the Seagull not looked for the other bits yet.
Looks to be in great nic too sure it would start up & run fine (only one previous owner) lol.
I've got a few photos but will have to get the wife to post them here when she
gets home from work.

main drive tube corroded and painted but other than that looks tidy. Could well do the job depending on price and getting it here.
