Lovely photos , wondered if that might be a suitable bay for a swim...

We often finish our paddles with a swim in Carrick bay to cool down. It’s small, gently sloping and often sheltered, although I was surfing my kayak in there a couple of days back.

We often encounter wild swimmers further out, swimming around Ardwall island, so they must think that more open crossing is safe too.

That looks really exciting!

I wonder if you can advise on using inflatable kayaks?

We recently bought a Gumotex Twist 2 and have been out it it a number of times. I had wondered when not to go out in it though. What sort of sea conditions would you say it would be unsafe in an inflatable?

I have the same kayak as you Southdowners and I find anything above a gentle breeze and the kayak is caught by the wind and paddling becomes quite hard going.
It was great in Adriatic around Croatia but on the Italian lakes it was a struggle due to the amount of wind it caught.
I'd love to do some sea paddling on the UK but fear it would not be up to the job.
I'm looking at rigids now as an alternative, but then have the hassle of transportation.
On the roof or vertical on back of van ?
I dunno ???
