From or to?
Either way drag & drop works.

Write a batch file if it's a regular job.

You see Graham that is Greek to me.

I sort of understand what a SD card but that’s it.

What does it mean in idiot speak ( which I am fluent in ) ?

Forget about writing a batch job then :)

Put your SD card in the reader.
Highlight the files to be backed up in Explorer and drag them to the SD card (or from the SD card to the receiving folder if it is the card which is being backed up).

Plug it into a lap top.
Go to 'my files'
It should be there, double click it.
Then right click on the folder you want and select 'copy'
Then open where you want to put it (like where your other pictures are?)
Right click on a space between files and select 'paste'

I am aware of copy files, but this SD is the sat nav disk for my car, I suspect there are files that copy and paste may not work.

You need to identify whether there are any hidden files and how access is restricted in order to decide if any software could overcome the restriction.
Are there any backup instructions in the car handbook and/or on the sat nav provider's web site?

Nope, thats why I was asking if there was some software.

You can't copy a satnav card completely it has hidden files, you can only back it up via the satnav software.
I learnt the hard way accidentally wiped a card cost me £150 for a new card.

many many years! since I was a kid
most sat nav sd cards are ok to drag and drop, but the only way to prove it is copy the entire root structure to another card and see if it works. i know it works fine for tomtom as the hidden os is linux based now and used to be windows on earlier models

only ever come across one that uses a hidden system token registered to the licence

I have a Clarion stereo (Windows CE) running IGO Prima mapping supplied by TomTom. If you copy the card unit refuses to recognise it.

More than toes wet now!
Most sat nav software is tied to the specific SD card it was supplied on to ensure no piracy by copying the contents and passing on elsewhere.
