Does anyone on here dive, go away for dive weekends, or know of any good places (either inland or coastal) for a good dive spot around the UK, preferably more southern but any trip considered?

I'm an experienced DCS (Dive Control Specialist) and have spent a lot of time teaching and leading dives around Asia as well as recreational diving around other parts of the world but haven't done a lot of diving since I've been back in the UK.

I'm starting to get the itch again and would love to know if anyone knows any spots/sites or are planning any trips.

I'm not too fussy about the dive for now and so a slow meander around the outcrop of a beach or any other fascinating feature is fine by me. I've done a lot of wreck diving both in deep choppy waters and protected shallows so 40 minute choppy boat journeys to a deep wreck doesn't appeal at the moment, but I'm more than happy to look at anything that requires a boat journey around to a cove or out to a cold water reef.

ATM it's more to scratch an itch than to embark on a big adventure. Anything really that I could combine with a trip away whether overnight or longer.

More long term we're looking at getting a boat so the bigger trips can come then.

Oh and BTW by inland I don't mean things like Stoney Cove and Gildenburgh I'm thinking more an underwater cave, something geological or aquatic life.

Sorry about the long post

Bob my husband had to give up diving as he had the bends and had to go to Poole hyperbarrack chamber in Poole.
His last dive was at Chesil beach near Portland (Weymouth), you can also find some boat wrecks in Weymouth, and diving is also quite big at Swanage, all in the Dorset area.

He has also dived up north at sea houses, and Malta
Bet your itching to get back into the water

@jollyrodger We'd be very interested in the GPS locations as a boat is on the cards further down the line. I've dived several wrecks and sites around Plymouth with Northampton Scuba School / Scubanuts, don't recall the name though I forget easily

@weekenders Sorry to hear about Bob I've seen how painful it is as I had to rescue someone who was diving from another boat and came up too quickly, unfortunately for him this was on a remote Thai site and the evacuation plan involved a slow 60 minute boat back to Koh Tao before he was whisked away to the nearest chamber which was still a 90 minute speedboat journey away.

Coincidentally our local dive club has a trip arranged for Seahouses later in the year which I was looking at, would Bob recommend it?

Too true, in Thailand I was diving in 31 degrees....60+ minute dives with board shorts and only on rare occasions would I use a rash vest, never even contemplated a wet suit even on deep dives.

Back here it's dry suits, hoods and gloves but needs must

Very true, dived that area on one trip and then moved on to Sound of Mull even that was warmer (Gulf Stream). Eventually gave up on diving the UK and spent more time diving this island. Have now given up altogether.
