Hi all, I have an outside screen cover. It's grey on one side, silver on the other. The clips/magnets etc all indicate it should be fitted with grey side outside. However when there is sun and I'm trying to keep vehicle cool, should I be somehow fitting it with silver side facing out? (Which would mean twisting the elastic on the door hooks)

So you've got a layer of insulation for conductive/convective heat, and then a layer of foil to reflect radiative heat.

The insulation layer works best when it's got the lowest possible temperature difference across it. So in the winter, you have silver side in to reflect as much heat back into the van as possible, then insulate the rest. But when it's hot outside, it probably makes more sense to have the foil reflect away the sun's heat as much as you can, then use the insulation to barrier you against the rest???

Silver reflective faces side outwards.
At least mine always has. No condensation or heat inside. đź‘Ť
Mitch.
Hmm, thanks... that's what I would have thought, but then why doesn't it have clips that can be used silver side facing out?!

Because people mainly use them to keep themselves warm. In warmer countries, you just put up internal blinds.

That’s what I was thinking to buddy and hence my reply earlier. I think tbh it’s not really going to matter massively.
