Hi, any recommendations for stop over the night before getting the ferry from Scrabster to Orkney. TIA

You could probably wild camp in the car park at Thurso Castle.

There's a caravan park on the A9 between Thurso and Scrabster, but we usually park at the new Sibster "forest" near Georgemas Junction. Reasonably quiet, some nice walks, and only a few miles from Scrabster. http://scotland.forestry.gov.uk/visit/sibster 58.5161085,-3.4538137

car park on the pier, no restrictions. modest payment. there is a campsite at the top of the hill if you want 5 mins to pier.

Booked to go over to Stromness early September. Is it still the case you can turn up the night before you leave and stop there?
