We often go to Scotland and this year was no exception. Our visits are usually about seeing wildlife on Mull. We planned on being away about three weeks with the first week booked on Mull. Our first night was near Loch na Keel looking for Eagles. The next morning the hydraulic clutch pipe split and I couldn't change gear. We limped into a nearby campsite and had to be towed onto a pitch, with about 50 motorhomes and caravans around us all watching (it feels like they are) Phoned my well known breakdown company who said they would send a local man to have a look.
We spent 4 nights at Pennygown Camping Park and I can't thank them enough, nothing was too much trouble. The clutch could not be fixed and the motorhome would be transported back to Devon. We were offered a hire car but we had to go to Glasgow to get it. The morning of the day we departed we heard that the ferry had broken down, but they fixed it and we managed to get over to Oban to catch the train to Glasgow, The train we wanted was cancelled and we waited three and a half hours for the last train out of Oban to Glasgow. Stayed overnight in a nice hotel and picked up a hire car the next morning. We took it in turns with the driving stopping twice and getting home to East Devon after about 10 hours driving.
Our motorhome arrived two days later and was delivered to my local garage who had it fixed in no time. So that was our trip to Scotland this year, the wife is not keen to go again.
