Scotland Next Week (1 Viewer)

Anyone up in the highlands next week? (15th onwards). I’m gonna have a poodle around possibly up to Durness. I’ll be on my own as usual so no set plan. Possibly wild camp somewhere remote as much as possible too.

Scotland is Beautiful in any weather...

Accept you don`t see much of it when it`s wet or misty..

Had 2 days of good weather so far. Now at a VERY windy Durness. Parked at the campsite, plugged in.

If you are in the Dunkeld, Pitlochry area then I can recommend the Scottish Wildlife Centre at the Loch of the Lowes as a good quiet place to overnight. They will allow overnight parking if you phone them in advance. They don't charge but any donation would be appreciated. They leave a toilet cubicle open overnight as well as one of their hides by the loch.

On my way up again week commencing 4th March. Hoping for good weather again. ‘‘Twas a tad blowy last time.

I’m going to Fort William the lazy way 1st March for 7days by coach Lochs and Glenn’s. Just sit there look at the scenery and no driving for a change. Oh and no cooking or washing up for a week.

I actually got away 7:30pm Wednesday evening after work and drove all through the night from Norfolk up to the Loch Tulla Viewpoint just short of Glencoe. Hopped into bed at 6:15am, got 2 1/2 hours sleep and then got on with it. Carried on up to Skye and found myself parked up right at the bottom of the tiny beach road down by the jetty at Staffin ( Garrafad ). What a beautiful spot that is! A few locals walking dogs and 3 commercial fishermen doing their thing. Once they’d gone it was total tranquility! Perfect!
I’m now parked on the pier at Loch Clash in Kinlochbervie. Only 1 other van here. I may have to stay here another day while the wind and rain pass over. Shame.

Spent our first week away February 16th. The first night we wild camped at Cuil bay then the following day we traveled through Arasaig on to Traigh.

The ferry from Mallaig was fully booked due to delays the previous day because of the weather so we back tracked to Fort William then off to the Skye bridge to visit a long time friend with a croft at Staffin.

When we arrived he had a cancellation for one of his cottages so we stayed 2 nights. With gales and heavy rain all night we were happy to be tucked up nice and warm in the cottage that night.

The following day we set off for home and stayed overnight at the Red Squirrel campsite in Glencoe.

We thoroughly enjoyed the week, with only a couple of mishaps. When the piezo lighter failed for the gas cooker we discovered we had no matches! After using all the on board water I then realised we had no hose to refill the tank, we managed to buy a watering can! Somehow we broke the table mounting, luckily we had some Gorilla glue so carried out a repair, so far so good! Looking forward to getting away again soon.

Now on the very bouncy ferry to Orkney! Silly me, I didn’t set “transport” mode! As soon as we set sail my alarm went off and my phone and iPad went mad sending me messages. Hey ho.

Will be looking forward to your photos of stopovers on Orkney. We went over on the ferry last year but just as a day trip.

Lochs and Glens are a brilliant co,,used them half a dozen times.BUSBY.

Great 1 hour cruise on Loch Ness today but I missed Nessie. Just sat down to a lovely 3 course meal and bottle of wine. But passed on the Bingo.
This is our 5th trip with them and I can’t fault anything from coach driver to all hotel staff and food. Even the alcohol is at a sensible price seeing as they have a captive audience.
