Not so scorching but a great temperature again. Out in the Kayak again checking out the Fryderyk Chopin which anchored last night. Lovely looking ship

We had a brief sojourn into France, including the very beautiful area of Font Romeu. Back now in "still" scorching Spain. Hopefully the temperatures will ease later this week.

We're wild parked on the banks of a reservoir south of Alcariz.

Noe enough internet to post photos but I will sometime.

So, last night we had a storm, with orange skies.

This morning everything around us was muddy to we headed to a nearby village to have a bike ride. We scrumped a few figs and watched more than a few vultures.

We're now parked under the cliffs on the access to an Ermita. Rain has stopped explorations, but they will be done later. There are more Vultures around here, sitting above the Ermita when not circling in the air.

Tomorrow we hope to do a via ferrata, from the village through the tunnel and up the hill, that ends at a Templar Castle.

Yesterday morning, at first light, we drove through the tunnel through the cliffs and emerged in the centre of the village of Castellote. Motorhome parking (and services) is at the bullring/Dinapolis and that's where we had breakfast before heading up past the church to climb on the via ferrata to the castle.

Perfect weather, sunny and warm, and a lovely climb with stunning views. There is a walkway up to the castle (our return route) for anyone not into rock routes.

We're not doing so much climbing now die to bad knees and my shoulder, but this was an easy grade so we gave it a go.

We got a better view of the Ermita from up there also.

In the afternoon we moved to the village of Mirambel, to fill with water at their service point and to park overnight. After lunch, and a siesta for one!, we had a less strenuous walk around the village.

It's been mostly renovated but for residence not tourism. No shops selling tat! The streets are still cobbled, not easy to walk on.

Where do you find these beautiful places to explore? I'm hoping to be doing Spain and Portugal, the first quarter of 2022.

What I remember most about Mirambel ( other than it being a pleasant village) is the free weighbridge next to the main road, old fashioned using weights and a balance... Overall I was under weight but way over on the rear... For the remainder of the day I was looking for another weighbridge to confirm it. Unfortunately it was correct so we've had to adjust what we take on our longer trips....

Google maps, P4N (reading reviews carefully!) and instinct/experience😅. Also using Wikiloc to find good mountain bike areas. There's normally good parking if there are lots of routes.

Best way to find interesting vllages in any country. If to get off the MAIN roads and explore. You may come unstuck (narrow roads etc)) now and then. But thats all part of the fun!

From Mirambel we drove to Cantavieja to redo a ride we did in June when we had a few weeks trip away from home (once our regional borders had been opened). The ride was as nice, but less colourful. The hedgerow flowers are now replaced with berries and other fruit.

Cantavieja has a motorhome service point but no official parking area, so after our ride we drove the 13km or so to Fortanete, which, although it doesn't have an official motorhome area, has a huge barbecue area where motorhome parking is allowed. (We cleared that with a worker back in June).

There are marked mountain bike routes from Fortanete and we picked a Wikiloc route which turned out to be marked route no. 1, so this morning we rode it.

It was a route, mainly on good tracks, but went through some stunning mountain (almost alpine) scenery 💕💕.

Photos, first six are from Cantavieja and the rest from Fortalete.
