Can I ask funsters how you load a scooter in to the garage of your motorhome?

When I say that I don't mean technically I mean like in terms of which ramps you have? I am particularly interested to know if anyone has an Electric ramp.

I am keen to buy one of these but the only company I can see that does them is in Italy.

Plain old push it up ramp,

I and many other use this one, its dead easy unless you have gone and got a "proper bike" I have a rock n roll front wheel holder so just push it it and it stands up while you put the tie downs on.

I use Light enough to lift and fold. We tend to drive the scooter up the ramp whilst standing to the side of it. Needs just a tickle on the accelerator because ours is an automatic. Never heard of an electric ramp and I can't see how it could be any better.

As per @peterc10 above. Dont see an easier solution. I have the same ramp style (mine was the cheapest version of that one on ebay) as all the links so far

Alko do a similar system with the sub brand Sawiko. Its illustrated in their catalogue here:

http://www.al-ko.co.uk/assets/amc-brochure/#/66/zoomed.

If that link does not work you can find details in the Motorhome Accessories brochure (page 66) that is on the Alko.co.uk website.
Also a selection of ramps etc.
Weighs nearly 48kg compared with about 5kg for my ramp. I think I will stick with what I have got

I use a lightweight fold up ramp...push the scooter in in reverse by handlebars...pull out by handlebars...easy peasy loaded and strapped in less than 5 minutes

Don’t have a chequer plate floor in my garage and didn’t want to buy some and start drilling holes through the floor on a one year old van. Made up a mounting board the exact width of garage 500mm wide, it is all well strapped in and we have driven a 1000 miles so far this trip and nothing moved. I also use a lightweight folding ramp for loading, I paid the extra for the padded bag for the ramp as it saves any scratching and if loading scooter when wet bag being waterproof will contain any moisture. The mounting board lifts out if not carrying the scooter and carpet flooring tiles refitted.

Does the OP mean this

That's very clever AND very slow AND if you don't want the scooter/bike in you will still have the ramp and all the gubbins in the way AND if you use a ramp you can push the scooter/bike up at an angle and wiggle bars and mirrors around the door frame and get it to the front of the garage and get bikes and stuff behind it.

Nice neat job, I would be tempted to try to get a couple of straps high up on the scooter as there is potentially a lot of leverage pulling on those eye bolts low down.

I used to have an electric winch system which dragged the scooter backwards into the garage. It worked very well but a bit slow.

But now I just use a ramp and drive it in forwards under engine power, much quicker.

Yes I agree. System takes up to much space and payload for me.

We have straps coming from our handelbars and rear carrier on both sides down to the sliding eye bolts that Hymer have in their garage. Angled towards the middle to stop front and back and side to side movement. Works OK with us.

The only problem we had was because we were using the same fixed wheel chock as @Stewart J (only on the front wheel) the Scooter stood in exactly the same place each time. We found that the top of the grp sandwich floor in our Hymer was just beginning to deform where the wheels constantly sat. It may be because we tied down tight enough to compress the suspension on the scooter slightly. I filled the slight deformation with body filler then put 2mm aluminium plates on top of the floor to spread the load more and then put the floor covering over the plates.

Hi Peter, I was worried about deformation of garage floor from wheels and centre stand in the same position every time hence the mounting board which comprises 12mm thick plywood with a thinner 3.5mm sheet screwed to it on underside. This underside sheet has holes cut to suit bolt head positions of wheel chock and tie down rings so underside has no projections and is entirely flat. I used 8mm roofing bolts cut to length as heads are thinner and have a slightly larger surface area than conventional bolts.

We use the ramp that came with the van, but use the bikes power to get it up the ramp, kill the switch as soon as front wheel over the edge into garage. In one side out the other, it is much easier to get out. Has been manhandled back out the side it went in when space was short. Didn't help with that.

You dont say what size scooter or camper. But i have one of these, its a taxi wheelchair ramp, extendable, with take 150 KG easy.

Find someone else who wants one and split the pair.

Stick the the scooter in backwards, like the one in the pics, into a chock just like that . Job done.
